Description

NGC 1945-1948 N49 & others in the Large Magellanic Cloud

In this field centered on NGC 1948, many nebulae and clusters make up this image located in the Large Magellanic Cloud constellation of Dorado.
It's a field that doesn't have a lot of imagery. (see annotated version)
The most remarkable objects
NGC 1948: an Ha-emission nebula associated with an open cluster.
NGC 1945: An emission nebula OIII
SNR N49: (also known as SNR J052559-660453) also known as The Brazil Nebula is the brightest supernova remnant of the Large Magellanic Cloud. It is about 160,000 light-years away and is expected to be about 5,000 years old.The latest images of N49 by the Chandra X-ray Observatory have revealed a bullet-shaped object moving at about 5 million miles per hour from a bright point source of X-rays and gamma-rays, likely a neutron star with an extremely strong magnetic field, known as a soft gamma repeater (PSR-0525-66). A particularly strong gamma-ray burst of LMC N49 was detected on March 5, 1979.
Our telescope (see our image of N49) does not have the necessary definition to reveal its structure in many filaments (cf. Hubble: https://blogs.futura-sciences.com/feldmann/wp-content/uploads/sites/9/2022/12/reste_supernova.jpg)
NGC 1978: is an elliptical globular cluster probably due to tidal action with the LMC.Contains many oxygen-rich or carbonaceous stars. It is about 2 billion years old. Plus all KMHK clusters, emission zones LHA 120-N 48D & 45, NGC 1941.And at the bottom right is the remarkable
OGLE star LMC505.19.014414 which is a Variable Lyrae RR (Optical Gravitational Lensing Event).

It was very difficult for us to choose between the SH-OORGB version and the SHORGB, which is why we are posting the 2 versions as well as the HaOIII luminance of N49, an annotated version of the field and the two starless for more distinguish structures.
